[FYI request #18114 email]
Ref: DOIA 2122-1357
Dear Rodger,
Thank you for your email of 6 January 2022 requesting under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act),
the following information:
1. The average time to process a Dependent Child Resident Visa (DCRV) from the start of the
pandemic, 11 March 2020, up until the date this request was lodged, 6 December 2021.
2. The number of DCRV applications lodged per month during the pandemic and their length of
completion broken down into percentiles (with emphasis of the days it took to reach the different
percentiles).
3. The minimum and maximum time that these DCRV applications are processed during the
pandemic. The maximum time can include applications that have not yet been completed ever since
they were lodged from the start of the pandemic.
4. The common reasons (at least 3) why DCRV applications are processed that long. Is it due to
incomplete information or maybe a shortage of manpower?
Our Response
We apologise for the delay in providing this response.
In response to your request for information, regarding your first three questions please find Table 1 and 2
attached in the appendix of this letter.
With regards to your last question, a number of reasons can influence the length of time taken to process
a visa application including applications being incomplete and the time of lodgement and the time
associated with requests for further information.

about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
