Hi Emma
Just confirming that those flights are fine.
1982
The two other representatives from New Zealand will be:
-
Ross Van Der Schyff, in his capacity as Registrar of Companies (talking about the ‘Starting
a Business’ indicator)
Act
-
Ben King, Deputy Secretary of Asia and Americas at MFAT (talking about the New Zealand
business environment as a whole)
A draft agenda is attached. It will be updated in due course. The key element for Robbie is that he
is likely to have to give a 10-15 minute speech about ‘Registering Property’ in New Zealand. But,
no need to worry about that yet – I will get back to you on that.
Information
Kind regards
Colin

Hi Colin – fantastic news about the conference … I know Robbie is keen to be part of this .
I have had an initial look at flights and considering Robbie is part of the team hosting the Chinese
delegation on the
20th at our LINZ office I thought the Air NZ flight below might be a good option

But this flight from Hongkong to Auckland can be met by two other flights departing Beijing at
either 8am or 10.00am  - it will all depend on the traffic to the airport on a Saturday morning (I

will be catching up a former MPI China Liaison for breakfast on Friday and ill ask about Saturday
morning traffic)  or what happens after the conference (dinner or meetings)

One thing I’d like to get underway as soon as possible is Robbie’s visa into China – can you please
get me the invitation letter.
And also from a timing point of view I will be out of the office 11th – 15th November  - so I’d like to
get everything done before I leave for my holiday in Sydney …..

Hi Emma

We just got confirmation on Friday of Robbie’s speaking slot at the conference.

The conference is on Friday, 22 November in Beijing. Robbie will be on a panel between 16:30 and
18:00 on ‘Streamlining business regulation’, chaired by Sylvia Solf of the World Bank. He is down
to talk about ‘Registering Property’.

We are yet to hear what Robbie needs to prepare for the event, if anything.

I want to talk to our Beijing team about an itinerary for Robbie – including flights, and possible
other engagements in Beijing, across the rest of Friday, and Thursday. If Robbie has any
preferences for other meetings in Beijing then, please let me know – otherwise, we will be happy
to provide some options for him later this week.

conference and LINZ is able to meet the costs of my trip.

I understand that the aim is to have senior officials from New Zealand present on our
performance in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’ rankings and you would like me to speak about the
‘Registering Property’ aspects. I note that your are also liaising with the Companies Office and

Intellectual Property Office on their involvement.

I also note that you have been in touch about LINZ hosting a proposed visit from a Chinese
delegation on the afternoon of 20 November, so I’m keen to understand how this might link with
our participation in the World Bank event.

I will await your further advice on the arrangements for this event and details of the conference
