Re: Mayor's public transport expenditure
I refer to your email, which we received on 28 July 2014, requesting information about the
Mayor's public transport expenditure.
In your email you request an annualised dollar total of Mayor Len Brown’s public transport
expenses incurred for his own travel for council business since he was elected.
On the occasions when the Mayor uses public transport, all costs are paid by the Mayor
privately. Therefore your request is refused under Section 17 (e) of the Local Government
Official Information and Meetings Act – that the documents alleged to contain the information
do not exist or cannot be found.
You have the right, by way of complaint under section 27(3) of the LGOIMA to apply
to the Ombudsman to seek an investigation and review of the decisions made in
respect of this request.
