Official Information Act request relating briefings received since 20 April 2021
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request, received on 7 February
2022. You requested:
“I would like to request a list of all briefings received by the Minister since 20 April 2021
in his capacity as minister for this portfolio. I would like this list to include the report
title, date received, and the agency that produced the briefing.”
The time frame for responding to your request was extended under section 15A of the Act by
20 working days because it necessitated consultations to be undertaken before a decision
could be made on the request. Following this extension, I am now in a position to respond.

I have withheld 6 briefs, and partially withheld the titles of others, under the following sections
of the Act:
section 9(2)(a) – the withholding of the information is necessary to protect the privacy
of natural persons
section 9(2)(f)(iv) – the withholding of the information is necessary to maintain the
constitutional for the time being which protect the confidentiality of advice
In making my decision, I have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of
the Act.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under section
28(3) of the Act.
