Tēnā koe Scott,
Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your requests under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of
Health (the Ministry) on 21 February 2022.As advised, your requests have been consolidated
under section 18(A)(2) of the Act. You requested the following:
“Would you be able to provide a list of clusters and sub-clusters that occurred between 1
January 2022 and 21 February 2022 that resulted in at least 20 cases linked to them.
Could you list a name of the cluster/sub-cluster, the type of setting (e.g. wedding, bar,
nightclub) and the number of cases associated with each one. I understand that some
may not be able to be named due to privacy, however I simple description would be
sufficient (e.g. private gathering).
Can you provide me with the number of COVID-19 cases that have been linked to
outdoors transmission from 17 August 2021 until 21 February 2022. Could you also
provide a list of the type of outdoor setting the cases occurred in.”
As cases of COVID-19 have increased, clusters and sub-clusters are not nationally recorded in
the National Contact Tracing Solution. Additionally, transmission location is unknown for most
cases. Therefore, your request is refused under section 18(e) of the Act as the information
requested does not exist.
Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review any
decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by email at:
[email address] or by calling 0800 802 602.
Please note that this response, with your personal details removed, may be published on the
Ministry of Health website at:
