Dear John Luke
Thank you for your email of 1 March 2022 requesting the following under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
A list of vacancy (ministerial appointment only, e.g. board member, Lay member,
Trustee etc) that the nomination period has been closed but still under consideration
by the Ministry for the Environment or relevant Minister.
In your list, can you please include the date that vacancy been advertised, what
method you have used to publicly advertise the position and when the vacancy been
closed as well.
Also, I would like to know if you have any future opening in 2022. e.g. the position
that will call for nomination in the year of 2022 or in the process of obtaining Minster
approval to start the recruitment process.
In response to your request for a list of vacancy that the nomination period has been closed
but still under consideration, there are no outstanding decisions to be made by the Ministry
for the Environment or relevant Minister. As such, I am refusing this part of request under
section 18(e) of the Act; the document alleged to contain the information requested does not
exist.
The Ministry follows the Public Service Commission guideline for board appointments and
inductions when calling for nominations. These can be found at
Board Appointment and
Induction Guidelines (publicservice.govt.nz).
Below is a list of future openings in 2022 in response to your request:
• Environmental Protection Authority
• Climate Change Commission
• Nominating Committee
• Fiordland Marine Guardians.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Office of the Ombudsman of
my decision to withhold information relating to this request, in accordance with section 28(3)
of the Act. The relevant details can be found on their website at:
