Official Information Act request relating to the public interest journalism fund
Thank you for your request made under the Official Information Act (the Act), received on 8
March 2022. You requested:
“- terms of service for any news/media organisations that received money from the
public interest journalism fund and/or conditions that were associated with receiving
money
- any and all communications/emails relating to content that can and can't be published
in accordance with receiving money from the fund
- topics that can and can't be reported on
- any narratives that are required to be reported on
- any and all directives to a media outlet if a report was published where are warning
was sent to the media outlet (if at all)
Can you please add to this request any
"keywords that are not permitted in our media and a copy of the “writing guidelines” for
the personnel placed in non state owned media organizations . For example which
words are keywords in the “not allowed” list such as apartheid, discrimination,
discriminating, classist, separate, separatist, partisan, NZ Bill of Rights, freedom of
thought, disease transmission, transmissible disease, shedding, adverse effects,
adverse events etc"”
I believe that the information you have requested is more closely connected with the functions
of Irirangi Te Motu – NZ On Air. Accordingly, I have decided under section 14(b)(ii) of the Act
to transfer your request to Irirangi Te Motu – NZ On Air.
Irirangi Te Motu – NZ On Air has the usual timeframes under the Act from receipt of this transfer
to make a decision on your request.
