Vehicle
was stolen earlier in the day.
It was seen by Police travel ing on Snel Road in Chartwel , Hamilton.
Police attempted to stop the car but the driver failed to stop for red/blue flashing lights.
A pursuit was commenced and lasted for a number of minutes before Police self abandoned due to
the high speed and bad manner of driving displayed by the fleeing driver.
The pursuit was abandoned on Brooklyn Road, Claudelands, Hamilton.

The vehicle was last seen crossing the intersection of Heaphy Terrace onto O'Neil Street.
The vehicle was located a short time later during the enquiry phase.
Information
It was found in the Sonning Carpark on River Road, it had col ided with two other stationary
(unoccupied) vehicles
and
which were parked in the Sonning Carpark.

The fleeing driver had decamped prior to Police arrival but was located and arrested a short time later.

No one was injured as a result of the crash and the crash was recorded on CCTV by Hamilton city
camera operators.

The offending driver has been charged and is on bail in relation to this incident.

The sole cause of this crash is due to a fleeing driver in a stolen vehicle attempting to evade
capture/arrest.

Speed was well above the posted speed limit and the pursuit had been abandoned by the time the
crash occurred. Definitely a factor of the crash as the driver couldn't stop in time before col iding with
the park cars.
