Dear Mr Beardsworth,
City Rail Link Ltd (CRL Ltd) – OIA-069
We refer to your request for information, dated 18 March 2022, submitted to Auckland Transport and
partially transferred to CRL Ltd for response in accordance with the requirements of the Official Information
Act 1982.
Request:
What is the envisioned timeframe for reconfiguring Britomart Station from 5 platforms to 4 platforms, as
part of the C7/C9 contract?
Response:
The final reconfiguration of Britomart Station from five to four platforms will be undertaken after the City
Rail Link opens (scheduled for 2024). This is because the reconfiguration works wil need to be undertaken in
a ‘live’ station operating environment and, post-CRL opening, passenger numbers are predicted to reduce at
Britomart (with the new Aotea Station set to become the busiest station). The reduction in passenger
numbers at Britomart will make it easier to undertake the platform reconfiguration works with less impact
on station operations. The duration of these works is stil to be confirmed.
You have the right to seek investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response. Information about
how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
Yours sincerely,
Emma Kurtovich
