Response to your request for official information Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to the Ministry of
Health (the Ministry) on 27 April 2022 for:
“I need both the information I requested PLUS all the communications between the MOH
and the Dept of the Prime Minister and the Minister of the Covid Public Health Response
pertaining to death and death rate and side effects following covid vaccination and what
actions were decided to be taken and who made the decisions on those actions.
As an addition, I would like any and all government communications, including with police,
regarding the vaccination status and subsequent death of Pauline Hanna, also known as
Pauline Polkinghorne.”
On 6 May 2022, you were contacted and asked to refine your request. This was followed up on
19 May 2022. The Ministry has not received a response from you to date. The Ministry would
need to conduct a search through many inboxes for any information in scope. The teams
engaged in this work are actively involved with the response to the COVID-19 pandemic. As
such, conducting a search without unreasonably interfering with the operations of the relevant
teams is not possible. I have considered whether charging or extending the time to compile the
information would enable us to respond. However, I do not believe it is in the public interest to
do so. Therefore, your request is refused under section 18(f) of the Act, as the information
requested cannot be made available without substantial collation or research. The Ministry
remains open to responding to a manageable request in the future.
Under section 28(3) of the Act, you have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review any
decisions made under this request. The Ombudsman may be contacted by email at:
[email address] or by calling 0800 802 602.
