[FYI request #19163 email] Tēnā koe Nic
I refer to your request received on 19 April 2022, which has been considered under
the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), for the following information:
•
Are you able to give a breakdown of the number of funding applications
that have been submitted in New Zealand Sign language (NZSL) over the
last three financial years?
•
Does your funding platform currently allow for video-based submissions
to be assessed, and if not, what is the timeline for this?
In this instance, we have interpreted ‘funding applications that have been submitted’
as ‘funding applications submitted to Manatū Taonga’.
Regarding the first portion of your request, we do not capture this information.
Therefore,
the
first
portion
of
your
request
is
refused
under
section 18(g) of the OIA as the information requested is not held by Manatū Taonga.
However, through conversations with fund managers within Manatū Taonga, we have
found no evidence that any funding applications have been submitted to Manatū
Taonga, completely or primarily, in New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL).
Regarding the second portion of your request, the online funding platform used by
Manatū Taonga for many of our funds does not have the capability to accept video-
based submissions of funding applications.
Despite the limitations of this platform, all funds administered by Manatū Taonga allow
for video submissions to be received via email upon request by the applicant, including
videos in which applicants are using NZSL.
