Dear Sumit,
Thank you for your email of 19 April 2022 requesting under the Official Information Act 1982 the following
information:
“There are more than 180,000 no. of people included in RV2021 category, vast majority of them are
under phase 2.
What resources does INZ have to get NZ police check/vet of such large no. of people in timely
manner ?
Does INZ going to apply each applicant’s police vetting application manually or new automated
system will be used for that ?
More information relevant to this topic will provide huge relief to migrant community and RV2021
applicants.”
Our Response
Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has been working closely with the Police Vetting Team (PVT) to help ensure
the PVT is fully prepared and resourced for the number of checks it will receive under the Residence Visa
2021 instructions. INZ uses an automated system to share information with the PVT and this system has
proved to be working well. As at 17 April 2022 the PVT had received 36,268 requests for Police checks, for
Residence Visa 2021 applications, and provided 36,122 responses to INZ.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision. Information
about how to make a complaint is available at www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
