Your Official Information Act request, reference: GOV-017988
Thank you for your email of 27 April 2022, asking for the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
1.
Current Initiatives to Update Concussion and Mild Traumatic Brain Injury

Process the ACC are using to ensure the old Guidelines do not make up new guidelines where new
Evidence based research is obvious
3.
Will the ACC be approaching Matai research in Gisborne for any assistance or opinion to the new
Guidelines
Current Initiatives to Update Concussion and Mild Traumatic Brain Injury
ACC is about to start a pilot on 18 May trialling a new pathway in primary care for concussion clients in the
Auckland and Canterbury regions. This pilot will run for 12 months, and we hope to have 1000 patients
participating in the pilot. The pilot aims to improve support for General Practitioners in the management of
concussion in primary care.
ACC are also currently running a proof of concept for our concussion services contract which enables
providers more flexibility to deliver the services required by the patient when they are required. This proof
of concept is due to run until February 2023.
Refusal of request
There is no official information relating to the ‘

request for this information under section 18(e) of the Act, as the information does not exist.
Assistance from Matai Research in Gisborne
ACC will not be approaching Matai research for any assistance or opinion on the new guidelines.
