Official information request
Please find below our response to your official information request relating to consumer groups
at the commission.
1. How did your call for public expression of interest to this Consumer Advisory
Group and Consumer network?
For the consumer network an Expression of Interest (EOI) was advertised on the consumer
forum database (at the time approx. 450 members) and approaches made via key
consumer contacts to targeted organisations/individuals to ascertain their interest and
availability. For the consumer advisory group to the board these were identified through
existing consumers, networks, and organisations where specific groups were being
targeted, such as rainbow communities and youth.
2. How did they express their interest to join?
All applicants completed an EOI and emailed this to our consumer e-mail. Following a
short-listing process, zoom interviews were held. The network final appointees were
confirmed through a meeting of the panel and senior staff. The CAG appointments were
confirmed by the board chair for approval.
3. The pay rate of these group's members and what other benefit they are receiving.
Members are paid as per the Cabinet Office CO (19) 1 (updated 29 January 2020). This
rate is currently $330.00 per day or part thereof for shorter meetings. If required for in-
person hui, flights, accommodation, and expenses related to attending are met.
4. The list of consumer network members and their bio’s.
