Thank you for your request of 29 June 2022 for the following under the Official Information
Act 1982 (the Act):
We seek information on the greenhouse gas emissions of your agency. Specifically,
please provide your reporting on greenhouse gas emissions of your agency:
1. In the last year of reporting under the Government's former sustainability
programme (Govt3 Sustainability Programme);
2. The last reporting on greenhouse gas emissions before the Covid lockdown in
March 2020;
3. Your most recent reporting on greenhouse gas emissions. In each case, kindly
include the breakdown of the activities causing the emissions. This should include
separate reporting on domestic air travel and on international air travel.
4. Please also advise if your agency has joined any programme enabling detailed
reporting such as the Toitū CarbonReduce Programme.
Your request has been refused in full under section 18(d) of the Act, as the information
requested is publicly available.

Regarding parts two and three of your request, detailed reporting on the Ministry’s

sustainability | Ministry for the Environment. Note that our FY2021/22 GHG emissions data is
currently being third-party verified and will be published on the Ministry’s website in due
course.
Regarding part four of your request, the Ministry has been a Toitū carbonreduce certified
organisation since FY2017/18, and our certification can be found at:
Ministry for the
Environment | Toitū Envirocare (toitu.co.nz). Our certification for FY2021/22 will also be
published here in due course.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Office of the Ombudsman of
