[FYI request #19913 email]
Dear Mr Saparelli
Thank you for your email of 14 July 2022 to Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities via the
FYI website requesting the following information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act):
I am requesting a breakdown of the current and historical Kāinga Ora / Housing New
Zealand housing stock counts, grouped by:
-
type, as per the categories in your annual reports (Public housing, Community
Group Housing, Transitional housing)
-
city or town, as at each financial year from the 2016-17 period through to current,
in machine-accessible format (e.g. spreadsheets).
Following a discussion with the relevant team in Kāinga Ora, I have decided to refuse your
request under section 18(d) of the Act as
, ‘…the information requested is or will soon be
publicly available…’ This is because Kāinga Ora regularly publishes the information you have requested on our
website at:
https://kaingaora.govt.nz/publications/housing-statistics/
https://kaingaora.govt.nz/publications/housing-statistics/housing-statistics-archive/
https://kaingaora.govt.nz/publications/annual-report/.
Kāinga Ora intends to have the next set of quarterly statistics with data as at 30 June 2022
on its website within the next fortnight. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development also
publishes a housing dashboard with housing related statistics on their website at:
https://www.hud.govt.nz/research-and-publications/statistics-and-research/the-
government-housing-dashboard/.
I trust this information is useful. Please note that Kāinga Ora proactively releases our
responses to official information requests where possible. Our response to your request may
be published at
https://kaingaora.govt.nz/publications/official-information-requests/ with your
personal information removed.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this response.
Information about how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz
or Freephone 0800 802 602.
Yours sincerely
