Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request dated 13 July 2022. You
asked:
Could you please supply to me all information held by you, (NZ police) on how a
person has to be arrested by the police.
The New Zealand Police Manual comprises all instructions and guidance in chapters for
administrative and operational aspects of policing, including nationally consistent
standard operating principles, practices, policies, and procedures (sometimes broadly
referred to as ‘policy’).
The chapter relevant to your request is titled ‘Arrest and detention’ and is publicly
available on Police website1.
