Request for information
I refer to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 2 August 2022, which was
transferred to New Zealand Police from Waka Kotahi on 30 August 2022, in which you
requested the following information:
1. I am writing to request a full list of all vehicle registration plates operated by the
New Zealand Police force.
Supplying the registration plates of al vehicles operated by Police would compromise staff
and vehicles attached to specialised working groups. This is operationally sensitive and must
remain confidential. For this reason, the information you requested is withheld in full under
section 6(c) of the OIA, as the making available of the information is likely to prejudice the
maintenance of the law including the prevention, investigation and detection of offences and
the right to a fair trial.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to review my decision if you are not satisfied with
