Extension of request for official information 
Thank  you  for  your  request  dated  3  August  2022  to  the  New  Zealand  Customs  Service 
(Customs), received via the FYI website, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) for 
information regarding the future of the New Zealand Traveller Declaration. 
Pursuant to section 15(1)(b) of the Act, I am extending the time limit to make a decision on 
your request as the consultations necessary to make a decision on the request are such that 
a proper response to the request cannot reasonably be made within the original time limit of 
20 working days.  
Customs is extending the time limit for a response by a further 10 working days. This means 
that  the  due  date  for  a  response  to  your  request  is  now  14  September  2022,  however, 
Customs will endeavour to provide you with a response as soon as possible. 
You have the right, by way of complaint to the Office of the Ombudsman under section 28(3) 
of the OIA, to seek an investigation and review of this extension.
