Request for information about investigations into Baycorp (CON0011696) 
 
We refer to your email to the Serious Fraud Office (the SFO) dated 24 May 2023, in which 
you requested the following information: 
 
 
“I would like to know if Baycorp has ever been investigated for serious fraud.” 
 
We have considered your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) and the 
Serious Fraud Office Act 1990 (SFO Act). 
 
 
Decision 
 
We have interpreted your request as asking for any  information relating to an SFO 
investigation of Baycorp for serious fraud offending. 
 
We note that, although more specific in nature, this request is essentially a repeat of your 
request of 7 August 2022, when you asked whether any debt col ections agencies had 
ever been investigated by the SFO. 
 
We reiterate our response of 2 September 2022 and confirm that the SFO does not hold 
the information requested. Accordingly, we refuse your request on the grounds that the 
requested information does not exist, pursuant to s 18(e) of the OIA. 
 
You have the right to seek an investigation and review by the Ombudsman of this decision.
