I refer to your email of 17 August 2022 in which you request the following under the Official
Information Act 1982 (OIA):
‘
- Any documents, correspondence or advisory documents regarding the review of the
composition of the New Zealand (refugee) Quota Programme from 2017 onwards.
- Any documents, correspondence and advisory that assisted in identifying the Asia-
Pacific region as an area of interest.
- Any documents, correspondence and advisory documents that led to the increase of
the New Zealand (refugee) Quota Programme allocation for the Middle-East and
African regions being increased from 14% to 15%.
- Any documents, correspondence and advisory documents that were used to facilitate
the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment making the recommendations
provided in the Hon Iain Lees-Galloway report "Three year Refugee Quota Programme
2019/20 to 2021/22’
In our view, it would have been necessary under section 14 of the OIA to transfer your request
to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) because the information you
requested is more closely connected with its functions. However, we are aware that you have
already made your request to MBIE, and therefore a transfer is not required.
I can advise that we do not hold any additional information that is relevant to your request,
which is not already held by MBIE. You will receive a response from MBIE in due course.
