I refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) 
dated 29 August 2022:

“How many placement positions have been available to postgraduate 
clinical psychology students at your tertiary education institution annually 
over the past five years?

How many students have attained a postgraduate clinical psychology 
degree from your tertiary education institution annually over the past five 
years?

What is the number of students who have undertaken a placement as part of 
a postgraduate clinical psychology degree through your tertiary education 
institution, annually, over the past five years?” 
 
How many placement positions have been available to postgraduate clinical 
psychology students at your tertiary education institution annually over the 
past five years 
 
Student placements are undertaken as part of the PSYC561 and PYSC562 papers in the 
Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology (PGDipClinPsyc).  
 
PSYC561 students are required to complete 400 hours placement at the University’s 
Clinical Psychology Centre between February and November, gaining practical 
experience. Students enrolled in PSYC562 are required to complete a placement of no less 
than 1500 hours to be conducted at a suitable placement agency (or agencies). 
Placements are arranged for all students enrolled in these papers. Therefore the number 
of placements arranged is contingent upon the number of students enrolled.

The table below reflects the numbers of graduates based on the academic year entered for 
their qualification completion. 
 
Please note, whilst students undertaking the PGDipClinPsyc programme must also be 
enrolled in or have completed an Masters of Arts (MA) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), or 
the thesis part of an Masters of Science (MSc), the only postgraduate qualification 
currently offered in Clinical Psychology is the PGDipClinPsyc.

As above, placements are undertaken as part of the PSYC561 and PSYC562 papers. All 
students enrolled in these papers are required to undertake placements. Therefore, the 
number of students who have undertaken placements is the same as the number of 
students enrolled.
