1982. You have requested information in relation to the University of Otago’s Postgraduate Diploma
in Clinical Psychology (PGDipCIPs).
Please see below our responses to each of your questions.
1. How many placement positions have been available to postgraduate clinical psychology
students at your tertiary education institution annually over the past five years?
The number of places available for the PGDipCIPs is limited by the number of practical clinical
placements available. The University offered 10 places per year from 2018. Since 2022, the
University has increased the intake to 12 places:

2. How many students have attained a postgraduate clinical psychology degree from your
tertiary education institution annually over the past five years?
Please see the below table which shows the number of students who completed the PGDipCIPs over
the last five years. Please note that this data includes all students who were eligible to graduate, and
may include students who deferred graduation.

3. What is the number of students who have undertaken a placement as part of a
postgraduate clinical psychology degree through your tertiary education institution
annually, over the past five years?
Please see the below table which shows the number of placements students have undertaken for
the PGDipCIPs over the last five years. We note that the University’s placement rate for students
undertaking the PGDipCIPs is 100%.
