Dear Melanie Petrowski
Official Information Act request for a list of attendees of the World Assembly of Local
and Regional Governments
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) request received on 31 August
2022. You requested:
“No doubt the PM and/or cabinet know who, if any, mayors or councillors from around
New Zealand attended the World Assembly of Local and Regional Governments in
New York from 26 to 28 April 2022, mandated by the UN General Assembly?
If so, may I please have the attendees list?”
The Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (DPMC) is not aware of any mayors or
councillors from New Zealand who attended the World Assembly of Local and Regional
Governments in New York earlier this year and does not hold a list of attendees. Following
enquiries made on your behalf, DPMC does not know of any other government agency or
department which holds the information you have requested.
Your request is therefore refused under section 18(g)(i) of the Act, that the information
requested is not held by the department or Minister of the Crown or organisation and the
person dealing with the request has no grounds for believing that the information is held by
another department or Minister of the Crown or organisation, or by a local authority.
You have the right to ask the Ombudsman to investigate and review my decision under
section 28(3) of the Act.
This response may be published on the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s
website during our regular publication cycle. Typically, information is released monthly, or as
otherwise determined. Your personal information including name and contact details will be
removed for publication.
Yours sincerely
Catherine Delore
