I refer to your information request dated 2 September 2022 made under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act). You have requested information in relation to entry to the University of Otago’s
Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme from 2018 – 2022 via the Alternative category.
I note that the original due date for your request was Friday 30 September 2022. However, with the
passing of the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day Act 2022, Memorial Day (26 September 2022)
was
not considered a ‘working day’ for the purposes of the Act.

1. How many people applied through the Alternative category?

4. How many of those who received an offer were applicants with a Master’s degree?
Of the domestic applicants to receive offers to enter the 2018 – 2022 BDS programmes via the
Alternative category, 5 of these applicants had Masters’ Degrees.
5. How many of those who received an offer were applicants with a PhD?
Of the domestic applicants to receive offers to enter the 2018 - 2022 BDS programmes via the
Alternative category, there were no applicants who had PhD’s.
