Tēnā koe,
Re: Official Information Act (OIA) Request – funding from Te Papa
I am writing in response to your email dated 13 September 2022 in which you requested the following
information:
Museum Hardship Fund:
May I request you to provide the name of assessment panel and their bio if available. Do you have
any external member on your panel, if so, how did you call for public expression of interest, e.g. from
seek etc. What is the current term of appointment for it's member and their pay rate for services.
Helping Hands, Travel Subsidy, Professional Development Grants:
do you have any external member sit on these funds panel? if do, please provide their name and bio,
pay rate and how did you call for public expression of interest, e.g. from seek etc.
There are three external advisors on the Museum Hardship Fund panel. These are John Coster,
Vicki-Anne Heikell and Jenny Harper. The appointments were made directly based on the
appointees’ extensive sector knowledge and experience. The advisors were engaged to assist with
decision making for the initial funding rounds between July 2020 to June 2022, and have continued
with the extension of the fund following Budget 2022. One member of the panel is remunerated at
$150 per hour. The other two members have chosen not to be remunerated.
There is no external advisor for decisions made about Helping Hands, Travel or Professional
Development Grants.
If you are not satisfied with this response you have the right to seek an investigation and review by
the Ombudsman. Information about how to make a complaint is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or freephone 0800 802 602.
If you wish to discuss any aspect of your request please contact me at [email address].
Yours sincerely
