[FYI request #20571 email]
Dear Ashleigh
I refer to your two information requests dated 15 September 2022 made under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act). You have requested information in relation to the University’s
Bachelor of Radiation Therapy programme (BRT). As noted to you in our email of 21 September
2022, we have combined your two requests together as they have asked for the same information.
We also note that in our email to you of 21 September 2022, we clarified whether you interested in
receiving the information for entry to the BRT programme in 2020, 2021 and 2022 (applying in 2019,
2020 and 2021), or whether you were interested in receiving the information for entry to the BRT
programme in 2019, 2020 and 2021 (applying in 2018, 2019 and 2020). Your replies of 21 September
2022 and 25 September 2022 confirmed that you were interested in receiving the information for
entry to the BRT programme in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Subject to the following comments, please see below our responses to each of your questions.
• Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) is not a category of admission for entry to the BRT
programme. The Radiation Therapy Admissions Committee considers applications from
candidates in the following categories:
o Secondary School category
o One Year of University Study category
o Two or More Years of University Study category
o Graduate category
o Alternative category
Therefore, while HSFY can be used as an entry point, however it is not a specific category of
admission to the BRT programme. Further details on the categories of admission can be
found at th
e Guidelines for Admission for the BRT programme.
• As well as meeting the entrance requirements, all applicants to the BRT programme,
regardless of admissions category, must provide a statement of interest and current
curriculum vitae. Successful applicants must have also undertaken a Radiation Therapy
interview, achieving a threshold level determined annually by the Radiation Therapy
Admissions Committee. Applicants are selected for an interview based on their academic
record.
1. The total number of people that applied for the 2020, 2021 and 2022 BRT programmes
from HSFY
2. The total number of people that received offers into the BRT programme in 2020, 2021
and 2022 from HSFY
3. The total number of people that entered the BRT programme in 2020, 2021 and 2022 from
HSFY
Please see the below table which shows the number of applicants, the number of offers made, and
the number of enrolled students to the 2020 – 2022 BRT programme, where it was identified that
the applicant had completed HSFY. As noted above, while HSFY can be used as an entry point, it is
not a specific category for entry to the BRT programme.

4. The lowest and highest grade averages from HSFY students to receive first-round offers
into the Bachelor of Radiation Therapy in 2020, 2021 and 2022 (could this also please
include the breakdowns of the different subcategories)
As noted above in our response to questions 1 – 3, while HSFY can be used as an entry point, it is not
a specific category for entry to the BRT programme. Therefore, the University does not hold
minimum or highest average academic scores to enter these programmes via the HSFY category for
the BRT programme.
Accordingly, we decline responding to this part of your request pursuant to section 18(e) of the Act
on the basis that the information requested does not exist.
I trust that this information will be helpful. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
If you are not satisfied with our response to your information request, section 28(3) of the Act
provides you with the right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate and review this response. However,
we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.
Yours sincerely
