Request for information
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 17 September 2022, in
which you asked for information regarding recruitment.
My response to each part of your request can be found below.
1. How many current people are in the process for Canterbury by recruitment step.
The Constabulary Recruitment Pipeline with Canterbury as first district preference as at 3
October 2022 is attached as Appendix A.
2. What is being done to ensure all the current people in the recruitment process
will be selected for a wing.
Applying to be a Police Recruit does not guarantee that your application wil be
successful. We have a rigorous recruitment process that al ows us to select the very best
applicants for a future place on a wing at the Royal New Zealand Police College.
3. What the estimated timeframe is to ensure that al applicants get into a wing.
There is no estimated timeframe for an applicant to be called up to a wing. The timeframe
for an applicant to be called up to a wing depends on the preparedness of the applicant
and how long they take to successfully meet all selection requirements. It also depends
on the need for each district and how that matches the preferences of the applicant.
4. The number of recruits being taken to Police College for Canterbury over the
next 2 years, if possible, broken down in to each wing. Eg 5 out of 60 for
Canterbury in Wing 363 etc
Table 1 below shows the wing al ocations for Canterbury for Wings 363 to 367. Police
does not yet have confirmed wing numbers or dates for wings that graduate in the
2023/2024 financial year or later. As such, this part of your request is refused under
section 18(e) of the OIA, as the requested information does not exist.
