[FYI request #20654 email]
Ref: DOIA 2223-0609
Dear Wendy,
Thank you for your email of 24 September 2022, requesting under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act), the following information:
As per your response at DOIA 2122-1465 on 21 February 2022, 5,523 Parent Residence
Expressions of Interest (EOIs) were in the pool as of 3 February 2022. These EOIs have a total
person count of 8,713 people.
And per your response at DOIA 2223-0172 on 18 August 2022, a total of 5,618 Parent
Residence Expressions of Interest (EOIs) were in the pool as of 30 July 2022. These EOIs have a
total person count of 8,847 people.
From the data, it seems the EOI number increased. Could you please clarify if people can still
submit a parent category expression of interest? If they can, on which instructions their parent
residence applications will be assessed when the selection reopens?
Our Response
Since March 2020, selections of expressions of interest (EOIs) under the Parent Resident Visa category have
been suspended, though EOIs may still be submitted. All submitted EOIs will be placed in a queue based on
the date the EOI was accepted. When the visa category reopens, we will select EOIs by the date we originally
received them. Once the EOI is selected it will be assessed against any new visa requirements.
