Thank you for contacting Auckland Transport on the 1st of October 2014 requesting
information in relation to an article in Stuff which states that Auckland Transport is installing
a mass-surveillance system.
We have listed your questions in bold type below with our responses to follow.
1. Are there any plans to use this system for parking enforcement? If so, I would
like all advice on this.
Yes, CCTV may be used for enforcement purposes for which Auckland Transport is
legislated to undertake today i.e. bus way enforcement. While certain current
practices dictate that a parking officer must be in attendance (i.e Clearway
enforcement) it is noted however that this type of technology is used extensively
overseas for parking enforcement and Auckland Transport is aware of this.

would like all advice on this.
No, there are no plans to use the system for speeding enforcement.
