19 October 2022
Tēnā koe Jacob,
I’m writing in response to your Official Information Act request of 5 October for information relating
to Tourist Information radio.
I understand from some previous correspondence to Tourism New Zealand on this subject, that the
license for Tourism Information Radio was granted to a private business quite some time ago. The
business sold advertising to fund station operation. As far as we are aware, the business has been
deregistered but some of the frequencies may still owned by them although the stations are not
updated.
The Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment manage licensing of the radio spectrum and
may have some additional information.
Ngā mihi,
Angela Gore
Government Relations Advisor
