Thank you for your email on 9 December 2022 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Thank you for your response, however it seems that you did not even attempt to answer the
question that I actually asked. For the avoidance of doubt, I did not ask about the various
initiatives that the government may or may not have taken to address the homeless issue in
Auckland. I asked a very specific question about any information you may have regarding
whether the gains that were achieved during the early stages of the pandemic have been
lost. If you have not assessed that, and so do not have any such information (despite the
Minister having said in response to an earlier request that she expected to receive advice on
this) then please state that. Otherwise, please answer the question that I asked rather than
providing a response that may as well have been copied and pasted from a briefing
document.
Your request is refused under section 18(g)(i) of the Act, that the information requested is not held
by the Ministry and it has no grounds for believing that the information is held by another agency.
For more information on the Ministry’s response to homelessness in the Auckland region, please
refer to our previous response.
You have the right to seek an investigation and review of my response by the Ombudsman, in
accordance with section 28(3) of the Act. The relevant details can be found on the Ombudsman’s
website at:
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz.
