DOIA 2223-0783
Dear Alexandria,
Thank you for your email of 13 October 2022 to the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment
requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act), the following:
Please supply the number of EOIs in the pool as of 31 March 2017, including the number of
applications and number of applicants. On the basis of the new category requirements, how long
is it expected to take to clear the queue of applicants up to this date?
Can you please confirm how many applications/applicants were withdrawn (which had been
submitted prior to 31/3/17) due to the previous category requirements.
Please also advise if these applications will be permitted to resume their place in the 'queue' if
they reapply as being eligible under the new category requirements.
Our Response
As at 8 November 2022, there was a total of 3,203 Expressions of Interest (EOI) in the Parent Resident
Visa category pool received on or before 31 March 2017, representing a total of 5,232 applicants.
Information on the expected selection dates for all EOIs in the Parent Resident Visa EOI pool is available
on the Immigration New Zealand (INZ) website and can be found on the following page:

visa#https://www.immigration.govt.nz/new-zealand-visas/apply-for-a-visa/tools-and-
information/support-family/parent-resident-visa-eoi-selection/slider
As at 8 November 2022, there was a total of 232 EOI’s submitted on or before 31 March 2017,
representing 387 applicants, that have been withdrawn from the EOI pool.
When an applicant withdraws their EOI (or application) they do not necessarily provide their reason for
doing so. If a reason is given it will be recorded in their correspondence and not recorded in an easily
extractable format.
For those applicants who withdrew their EOIs on or before 7 October 2019, communications were sent
to them on 12 October 2022 inviting them to resubmit their Parent Category EOIs into the queued pool.
EOIs that are resubmitted will regain their previous place in the queued pool.

Applicants are being advised to complete the appropriate Parent Category Resubmission of Expression
of Interest Form (INZ 1374) and pay the applicable application fee and immigration levy. No
documentation other than the INZ 1374 application form is required at the EOI submission stage.
