Dear Richard
Request made under the Official Information Act 1982
Thank you for your email
of 16 November 2022 requesting the fol owing information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
…15 minutes count data (with Light & Heavy split if available) for stations 01N19424 and
01N29424 covering the SB and NB flows on the AHB. If there are any caveats on the use of
this data please provide this…
…details of any closures / restrictions and movable barrier positions and times for the same
period.
The fol owing documents fal within the scope of your request and are enclosed:
• Attachment 1: AHB Traffic Data Aug-Oct 2022.xlsx
• Attachment 2: MLB Configuration report Aug-Oct 2022.xlsx
Please note, the below caveats apply to the data within
Attachment 1 only.
• Between the dates requested, the Classifier site northbound (NB) is suspected to be
undercounting in lane 1 (L1) and lane 2 (L2) due to loop errors (a number of error records in
the detector output confirms this).
• As a result, for this period, Classifier site data indicates lower daily flows NB than southbound
(SB) by around 1,300 vehicles (on normal weekdays).
• Normal daily flows historical y give an imbalance in the other direction (around 2,000 vehicles
higher in the NB direction).
• Between the dates requested, one of our alternative sites the SRMS (
SCATS (Sydney
Coordinated Adaptive Traffic System) Ramp Metering System) site just north of the Auckland
Harbour Bridge (AHB)) continues to show daily flows to be around 2,000 vehicles per day
higher in the NB direction (on normal weekdays).
• Historically, the SRMS site has overcounted by around 3 percent NB and 2 percent SB
compared to the Classifier site (on normal weekdays).
• Between the dates requested, the SRMS data is around 6 percent higher NB and 2 percent
higher SB (on normal weekdays).
• As a result, we estimate the Classifier site to be undercounting by around 2,500 vehicles per
day NB (on normal weekdays).
