Official information request regarding LAWS 211 reconsideration requests
I refer to your request for information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act)
dated 19 November 2022:
“This request concerns reconsideration requests for the LAWS 211 (Law of
Contract) mid-trimester test, which took place on 19 August 2022.
1. How many applications for a reconsideration were received?
2. How many reconsideration applications resulted in a change to the student’s
grade?
3. What was the average length of time taken to process a request (from
receipt of the request to notification of the final outcome) for reconsideration
for this piece of assessment?
4. What is the average length of time taken to process a request for
reconsideration for all items of assessment in LAWS courses generally?
5. On what date was the reconsideration process for this assessment
completed?
6. Please provide complaints and any internal correspondence relating to the
processing of reconsideration requests for this assessment.”

How many applications for a reconsideration were received?
Thirty-six applications for reconsideration were received.
2.
How many reconsideration applications resulted in a change to the
student’s grade?
Three reconsideration applications resulted in a change to the student’s grade.
3.
What was the average length of time taken to process a request (from
receipt of the request to notification of the final outcome) for
reconsideration for this piece of assessment?
The deadline for reconsideration applications was 18 October 2022. Students were
notified of outcomes on 18 November 2022. The University has not calculated the average
length of time to process reconsideration requests for LAWS211. To compile this
information would require substantial collation and research and therefore is refused in
accordance with s18(f) of the Act.

reconsideration for all items of assessment in LAWS courses
generally?
The University has not calculated the average length of time to process reconsideration
requests for all items of assessment in LAWS courses generally. To compile this
information would require substantial collation and research and therefore is refused in
accordance with s18(f) of the Act.

This information is contained in the attached document. Please note, additional
