Official information request HNZ00015328
Thank you for your email on 28 March 2023, asking for the following which has been
considered under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“approximately 80 people that attended the conference and listed their organisation as Te
Whatu Ora - Health New Zealand.
are you confirming that there was no cost to the taxpayer for their attendance, and that they
travelled and attended in their own time at their own expense”.
As outlined in our response sent to you on 26 January 2023, we do not hold the information you
have requested. Therefore, your request is refused under 18(g) of the Act. This is because Te
Whatu Ora does not organise or record attendance at private functions such as the Equity Health
Conference (EHC) held on the 28 – 29 November 2022 in Auckland.
Te Whatu Ora employees who attended may have had the cost of attendance met from their
personal education budgets which form part of their employment agreements, and some will have
been funded through trusts, while others may have met the cost at their own expense.
Regarding the 80 people that listed Te Whatu Ora as their organisation, these attendees could be
from anywhere within our organisation. Some may have also been attendees who are now
employees of Te Aka Whai Ora – Māori Health Authority.
