Dear Whom It May Concern
I refer to your information request dated 15 December 2022 made under the Official Information
Act 1982 (the Act). You have requested a mark and grade distribution for the 2022 LAWS101 paper
at the University of Otago, including the mark and grade distributions for the 2022 LAWS101A and
LAWS101B exams.
We note that on 2 February 2023, we extended the time limit by which we must make a decision on
your request of 15 December 2022, to 10 February 2023.
Subject to the following comments, please see attached the information you have requested.
• please note that each LAWS101 exam counts for 50% of the final mark result. The final mark
result is a scaled result of the two exams.
• in the attached grade and mark distributions, students who withdrew from the paper are
excluded from the data.
I trust that this information will be helpful.
If you are not satisfied with our response to your information request, section 28(3) of the Act
provides you with the right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate and review this response. However,
we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.
Yours sincerely
Kelsey Kennard
