Thank you for your email
of 6 January 2023 requesting the following information under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Can you please provide a breakdown for the below across each region and nationally for each of
the years separately - 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022:
1. How many people who sat their restricted licence test for the first time passed it?
2. Of those people who didn't pass on their first attempt, how many went on to pass the restricted
licence test on their second attempt?
3. On average, how many attempts did it take for people to pass their restricted licence?
4. Can you please provide the same breakdown for people sitting their full licence test.
5. Does the Government cover the cost for people on a Government funded benefit to sit a
restricted or full licence test?
On 1 January 2023, part five of your request was transferred to the Ministry of Social Development for
response as allowed for under section 14 of the Act.
