Response to your request for official information
Thank you for your request under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act) to Manatū Hauora
(the Ministry of Health) on 7 January 2023. I wil respond to each part of your request in turn.
1. How many people with no co-morbidities have died due to a primary
diagnosis of covid 19 in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Please supply a breakdown of data
by age group and year of death.
The data you have requested is not held in the requested form and would have to be created.
As such, while the Act allows New Zealanders to ask for information from Ministers and
government agencies, there is no requirement for agencies to create new information or compile
information they do not hold. Your requested is refused under section 18(g)(i) of the Act.
2. Numbers of emergency presentations for inflammatory heart disease (pericarditis and
myocarditis) in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022. Please supply the data by age group for each
year.
Manatū Hauora does not hold information for emergency presentations. I have been advised
this part of your request is held by Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand. As such I have
decided to transfer this part of your request to Te Whatu Ora under section 14(b)(i ) of the Act.
You can expect a response from their agency in due course. Please accept our apologies for
the delay in partially transferring your request.
