Your request for Official information, reference: HNZ00029191
Thank you for your email of 28 August 2023, regarding a response from Manatū Hauora Ministry of
Health (the Ministry) (H2023019237), asking for the following under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act):
“I was told i could not have the 2021 and 2022 iatrogenic death reports as they were thus
far incomplete. Could I have them now please, and perhaps the 2020 report as well. thank
you.”
Iatrogenic deaths are those due to medical treatment. Te Whatu Ora do not produce any reports
specific to this subject. Therefore, we are refusing your request under section 18(e) of the Act, as
the information requested does not exist or, despite reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be
found.
As part of routine cause of death reporting, Te Whatu Ora publishes data where the underlying
cause of death is misadventure, though, this data is currently only available up to 2018.
Please note, we cannot provide more than what has previously been given to you by the Ministry of
Health.
