[FYI request #21654 email]
Dear Mr Pink
I refer to your information request dated 28 January 2023 made under the Official Information Act
1982 (the Act). You have requested the mark and grade distribution of the FINC102 paper offered by
the University of Otago in 2022, as well as the mark and grade distribution of the FINC102 final exam
in 2022.
We note we contacted you 31 January 2023 to clarify which Semester you were interested in
receiving the information for, as FINC102 was offered in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 in 2022.
Your response on 31 January confirmed that you were interested in receiving the information for
both Semester 1 and Semester 2.
Please see below our responses to each of your requests.
1. Final mark and grade distributions for the Semester 1 and Semester 2 FINC102 paper
Subject to the following comment, please see attached the final mark and grade distributions for the
Semester 1 and Semester 2 FINC102 paper:
• in the attached mark and grade distributions, we note that students who withdrew from the
papers are excluded from the data.
2. Mark and grade distributions of the Semester 1 and Semester 2 FINC102 final exams
We have decided to grant your request. However, it is taking a bit of time to investigate and collate
this information for you due to staff workloads and the fact that student marks in the separate
FINC102 final exams are not stored in the same location as overall student marks in our central
records system. We will be back in touch with regards to this information once the data has been
confirmed and is available. Please note that some information may be withheld for privacy reasons.
I trust that this information will be helpful. We will be in touch with regards to the remaining
information you have requested as soon as possible.
If you are not satisfied with our response to your information request, section 28(3) of the Act
provides you with the right to ask an Ombudsman to investigate and review this response. However,
we would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns with you first.
Yours sincerely
