Information Request – Fire Appliances
I refer to your official information request dated 31 January 2023 asking for the following
information
.
1. A list of appliances that are currently on order 1a. The estimated Delivery to NZ or Local
completion for said ordered appliances.
1b. Speciation's on Tank and Pump abilities.
1c. Speciation's on aerial ladders in terms ladder height and onboard pumping capacity.
2. Do FENZ Consider their fleet to be safe for fire fighters to use, despite the frequent
reports of breakdowns?
On 5 February 2023 you clarified that questions 1b and 1c were referring to the ‘fire response
fleet’ such as type 1 to 6 appliances as well as medium pumpers and tankers.
We have interpreted your request for ‘speciation’s” to be for the specifications for the relevant
vehicle.
In accordance with the provisions of the Official Information Act 1982 (OIA), below is Fire and
Emergency New Zealand’s response to each of your questions.

Yes, Fire and Emergency has a robust appliance servicing regime and the fleet is safe.
