Thank you for your request made under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings
Act 1987 (the Act), received on 17 February 2023. After refinement, you requested the fol owing
information:
1. The total number of dogs currently registered, and per year for the previous 3 years?
2. The number of new registrations of dogs per year for the last 3 years?
3. List the dog types registered (e.g. domestic, guide, working) and the number of dogs for
each of those types?
4. List the number of dogs registered in each suburb within WCC jurisdiction?
5. The total number of dogs currently registered as dangerous?
6. The total number of dogs currently registered as menacing?
7. The number of dog deaths registered per year for the last 3 years?
8. List the top 10 primary breeds registered as of November 2022?

Below is a table breaking down the number of dogs currently registered. Please note:
• This information has been gathered directly from the dogs register in reply to your request.
This register is updated regularly in response to updates from registered dog owners
and/or the receiving of new registrations. Therefore, these figures might not align with
information provided in the Councils Annual Dog Control Reports.

• The Council’s Dog Team have been gathering the data you have requested for al questions
over time since your request was first raised with us, on 17 February 2023. Data gathered
has not been pulled from the same day, during which time the Dog’s team receives
changes to applications which can include changes to currently registered dogs, new
applications etc. Therefore, the figures above may not match the totals provided in
question 1.
