Tēnā koe Jane
I refer to your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request of 23 February 2023 to Rt Hon Chris
Hipkins for:
how the NZ government is implementing Agenda 30? What specific plans do you
have in place to achieve this?
why is NZ the pilot country for Al? What measures are you taking to implement Al? What
is the 1 O year plan for bringing Al into our community and what will life look like for
kiwis eg "smart cities?" And NEC collaborations?
what is the purpose of the 5G towers and phased array beam-forming in NZ? What is this
technology being used for currently?"
On 8 March 2023, the part of your request bolded above, was transferred to the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs and Trade (the Ministry) for response.
We have interpreted your request for information relating to ‘
Agenda 30’ to be for information
relating to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the non-binding United Nations (UN)
agenda that New Zealand and all other UN member states endorsed in 2015. The 2030 Agenda
outlines 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
New Zealand is contributing to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) through a combination of domestic action, international leadership on
global issues, and support for developing countries. Achievement requires a whole of government
effort, working alongside the private sector and civil society.
