Thank you for your email of 24 February 2023 requesting, under the Official Information Act 1982 (the
Act), the following information:
1. What is the detail process that the airline staff uses APP system to check if a passenger is able
board a flight for travel to New Zealand?
2. What information is collected from the APP system?
3. What information will the airline staff sees from APP system?
4. How long this information will be kept in the system?
5. If the passenger holds a visa or New Zealand citizen endorsement, will the airline staff see which
types of the visa or citizen endorsement?
6. Will the information collected by the APP system be shared with the departing port authorities,
such as foreign customs. If yes, what information will be shared?
Our Response
We are refusing your request for information under section 18(d) of the Act as the information is publicly
available.
We note that you sought this information on 17 February 2022 in which we responded on 1 March 2022.
