Your request for official information, reference: HNZ00030613
Thank you for your email on 27 September 2023, asking for the following under the Official
Information Act 1982 (the Act):
“Could I please have the totals separated in to the the following groups.
1. They were admitted to hospital with COVID-19, but COVID-19 was not part of why they
were hospitalized.
2. COVID-19 was part of the reason for their hospitalisation.
3. Covid was the only reason for hospitalisation.”
Please find responses to Question 1 and 2 in the attached spreadsheet.
For Question 3 Te Whatu Ora is unable to provide the requested information because it is not
possible to provide numbers of hospitalisations where COVID-19 is the sole cause of
hospitalisation due to how the data is collected and coded. It is therefore refused under section
18(g) of the Act on the basis that the information is not held.
