Thank you for your email of 15 March 2023 requesting information relating to Julian Batchelor
and the Cape Brett walkway. Your request has been considered under the Of icial Information
Act 1982 (‘OIA’).
On 29 March 2023, the Department of Conservation (‘the Department’) contacted you,
suggesting refining the timeframe in which you are seeking information from 1 January 2015
to the date of your request, 15 March 2023.
As we have not heard back from you regarding our suggested refinement, we proceeded with
the timeframe for the information you requested to be from 1 January 2015 to 15 March 2023.
I am writing to advise you that I have made my decision on the information to be released in
response to your request. However, more time is required to prepare the response for release.
I have decided to grant your of icial information request. You wil be provided with the
requested information, no later than 23 May 2023, sooner if possible. Please note that some
of the information is to be withheld pursuant to section 9 of the OIA.
In making my decision, I have considered the public interest considerations in section 9(1) of
the OIA and determined there are no public interests which outweigh the grounds for
withholding.
You are entitled to seek an investigation and review of my decision by writing to an
Ombudsman as provided by section 28(3) of the OIA.
