Dear Mason
Request for Information
Thank you for your Official Information Act 1982 (OIA) request, dated 23 March 2023, in
which you requested:
- Any contract with Auror (or its previous names) prior to that dated August 2018
publicly released.
- Material provided by Auror in its initial proposal to the Police to provide an ANPR
surveil ance platform. If this material is tainted with commercial sensitivity, please
redact the necessary portions but provide the documents.
- Any material or documentation that was given to Auror prior to August 2018 that
may have been used to develop their ANPR database and active detection
capability portal.
- Any communication between Auror in the exchange of that material.
The formal arrangement with Auror prior to 2018 is set out in a Letter of Agreement with
Auror Limited dated 3 November 2015. This document is withheld under section 9(2)(b)(i )
of the OIA, as to make the information available would be likely to unreasonably prejudice
the commercial position of the person who supplied or who is the subject of the
information.
We have not located any information relating to the initial proposal for Auror to develop
ANPR functionality, therefore this part of your request is refused under section 18(e) of the
OIA as the information does not exist or, despite reasonable efforts to locate it, cannot be
found.
You further requested:
[A]l documentation related to the Police issuing app development ideas to Auror.
For instance, did Auror first launch the platform without retrospective search
function and only implemented additional functions after the Police's requested
them?
To support innovation and improve our policing services, Police staff are invited to
propose new ideas which are then considered in discussions with Auror and contribute to
ongoing developments Auror makes to its Retail Crime Intel igence Platform.
Enhancements are discussed in collaboration with Auror staff during meetings and
workshops. Auror determines whether any changes are to be made to its platform. As
Police does not hold any documentation relating to such enhancements, and your request
is refused under section 18(g) of the OIA.
