[FYI request #22479 email]
Tēnā koe James,
Thank you for your email of 17 April requesting the following information under the
Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Please provide a copy of Matthew Tukaki’s CV that he submitted for his role as
Chair of the Oranga Tamariki Ministerial Advisory Board.
Please note, a copy of Mr Tukaki’s CV has already been released by another
government department after involvement from the Ombudsman and Mr
Tukaki’s employment history is publicly available via his LinkedIn page, so there
are no privacy issues.
Your request has been considered in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
We can advise that when establishing the Oranga Tamariki Ministerial Advisory Board,
prominent members across Te Ao Māori were sought for appointment. Mr Tukaki was
well known, and was appointed to the Board given his role on the National Executive
of the New Zealand Māori Council. At the time of selecting Mr Tukaki for the Board, a
CV was not requested. Mr Tukaki had been employed in other public sector roles, and
this office can advise that relevant probity checks were undertaken by these agencies.
Once the appointment was approved by Cabinet, Oranga Tamariki undertook
appointment processes as outlined in the Cabinet Manual, such as conflict of interest
declarations.
If you wish to discuss this response, please feel free to contact my office at
[Kelvin Davis request email]. If you are not satisfied with this response, you have the right
to ask an Ombudsman to review this decision. Information about this is available at
www.ombudsman.parliament.nz or by contacting them on 0800 802 602.
