Your Official Information Act request, reference: GOV-024651
Thank you for your request submitted through FYI.org on 25 April 2023, asking for the following
information under the Official Information Act 1982 (the Act):
Role of individual SP Ministerial Writing position within the ACC
You clarified your request on 28 April 2023 to inform us that this position was mentioned in a digital
footprint report.
SP Ministerial Writing is not currently the name of any team or role within ACC
The name ‘SP Ministerial Writing’ is historic, and refers to a team that is largely equivalent to ACC’s current
Ministerial Services team. ‘SP’ stood for Strategy and Policy, which is a former business group within
ACC. The current equivalent position is an Advisor, Ministerial Services team. Some department titles may
not have been updated for every staff member in the system which pulled the report, which may be why
this department title was showing.
The role of Advisors in Ministerial Services
The primary purpose of this role is to provide information to ACC’s ministers. This includes responding to
Parliamentary questions about ACC, providing information for Select Committees, writing briefing papers,
or responding to requests for information from the Minister’s or Associate Minister’s Private Secretary.
Advisors also help to respond to members of the public, including ACC clients, who have contacted the ACC
Minister or Associate Minister.
